Song: “Shape of My Heart”
Album: Black & Blue
Actress Drew Barrymore says, “I never regret anything. Because every little detail of your life is what made you into who you are in the end.” When someone leaves this world, (s)he can disperse earthly possessions, but the true legacy left behind is the character or person (s)he was. “Shape of My Heart” by the Backstreet Boys, does what each ballad should do– it tells a story. The track tells the tale of making a mistake, and asking for forgiveness. Now all the man really wants to do is be honest, and (not to be cheesy) show her the shape of his heart. In situations such as this one, the question arises: Does one forgive and forget, or does one learn and move on?
I have had my fair share of some outrageous moments that are worth forgetting. In those moments though, we must not forget. Successful Entrepreneur Bill Rancic says, “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.” We make mistakes, bad things DO happen, but in the end we must push ourselves to live the best life possible. We must learn from every encounter, and we must move in a positive direction.
What this song means to me is just realizing sometimes we treat people in an awful manner. When that happens, we have to reflect that how we treated someone is not how we want to be treated. So, everyone must learn the power of respect, because what goes around really does come back around.
Finally, I have to mention that this song was such a sweet part of the NKOTBSB concert this summer. I remember my best friend & I were waiting along the aisle, and right before us were AJ & Howie. What was weird was that I did not scream… All I could do was just smile & belt my heart out. I was enjoying the moment. I was living in the moment.
So, my final message to you: Treat others how you wanted to be treated — and live in the NOW mindset. “NO. OPPORTUNITY. WASTED.” Love others, and live with positivity.
