When I’m in my Media Entrepreneurship class and we talk about the people we want to work with, a few things come to mind. I want someone who’s a hard worker, but knows when to have fun at the right moment, someone who won’t stab you in the back and someone who’s got a burning fire and passion for what they love to do. When I say that, I think of Midnight Red.
These five young men, Anthony Ladao, Thomas Augusto, Joey Diggs, Colton Rudloff, and Eric Secharia, all remind me of myself. At the end of the day, it’s about pouring your heart and soul into your life long aspirations. When I see them perform, I see that hunger- that hunger that takes sacrifice, time, and a lot of dedication to do what they love. They work so hard, and yet I see it pay off ten fold. To think from the span of July 2011 – February 2012, they went from 1,000+ followers on Twitter now they have over 25,000. That’s without being a headliner and a not dropping an album yet. I don’t know about you, but I find that very impressive.
Not only did they gain followers, but they are a huge reason why I’m going into the business. Yes, NKOTBSB might’ve lit the fire in my heart to go into concert production, but Midnight Red is exactly I want my dream job. I’m all about artists who don’t hide behind deceptiveness. A lot of Top 40 radio (noticed how I said a lot not all), hides behind glitz and glam just to feed the bottom line (i.e. autotune, 808s, dubstep)… Look, I’m not against being modern, but whatever happend to just SANGing.. you know vocals that grabbed your heartstrings? That’s why I like these guys. They’re edgy and contemporary, but their performances live are what LIVE is supposed to be like. No playbacks, no studio tricks, just raw talent and boy are they great. I make it a point to support things that deserve it. In this world you work for a dream, because if you don’t it’s not a dream it’s an idea. Seeing how hard these guys work for their dream restores my faith that I can live mine.
Finally, something tells me that these guys are way too sweet to deceive me. Their tone when they talk, the interactiveness with fans, and just they way they care for their job is so impressive at a young age. The Entertainment industry can have ego issues, but I don’t see it in them. It’s that gut feeling inside me telling me they don’t take this ride for granted.
So, gentlemen… Thank you so much for being there for us #RedHeads. It’s been so great being on this journey with you. I hope we get the chance to work together someday- me being the big shot concert producer and you being the huge headliner! 😉 (Hey, i’m young, right? 😉 I’m actually older than 3/5ths of you, but stil… ;)) Anyway, this is to thank you for making me chase my goals that much harder. When you work hard, you can take over the world… 😉 ONE LOVE!
