For a ten year experienced journalist who does not have trouble with words, summarizing this summer is tremendously difficult. Even though it was not the typical “family” vacation summer, it was still pretty momentous.
Even right after my final (which by way I still do not get how I managed to receive 2 As and 2 Bs being ill during dead and finals week), it kicked off to a great start. Seeing my dad receive his degree after years of hard work inspired me. If he was able to work, support a family, and go to school at the same time, I should not be complaining. I should work hard to make him proud. In 9 short months, hopefully with a college diploma in my hand that will happen.
Then, while on a mini road trip to celebrate my dad’s accomplishment I had an idea. Pip from The Voice and I had already been passing emails back and forth. It never occurred to me that I could interview him for my blog. So, taking a shot in the dark — I asked. Being the kind gentleman that he is, Pip gave me one of the most intelligent, informative and excellent interviews I have conducted in my career.
Pip also gave me another highly memorable summer experience. Along with surprising him with other Pipsters on our Pipster Projects, Bowtie Ambassadors truly touched my soul. Seeing how everyone came together to share how they were moved by being a part of his fan community was tremendous. Yes, the swag was a fun little bonus, but what really mattered was celebrating the fact that we are not like the normal fan base. We care for each other, and that is what truly makes us special.
Watching the Olympics with my family was nothing but fun! I am a huge swimming fan, and it was great being able to sit down around the television with my family and cheer on our team. Another thing my sisters and I partook in was a lot of Netflixing. We laughed over “How I Met Your Mother.” We were addicted to the thickening plot lines of Korean dramas. Most importantly however, I just enjoyed spending time with them. During the school year, everyone’s off doing their own thing. This may be one of the last summers we all spend some quality time together. Which is why it has been a little hard on me. My “Phamily” has been my rock for all 22 years of my life. I honestly hope that no matter where we are in a year, we get to spend some time together before we all go our separate ways.
My family and everyone made this such an incredible summer, from the artists I interviewed, to Pip and his family for their constant outpour of kindness, to my friends (whether they be near or in the social realm) have all made it special.
Jessi: Girl, you have gotten me through a lot. I thank you for being such a kind friend. You are Snow White with your desire to be fair and kind to all. Thank you for always being there, know that I am always here for you.
Kristen: It truly has been a pleasure getting to know you! You will go so far in life with your dreams and ambition. Never give up! Thank you for being a wonderful lady and friend!
Sam: I know I may always seem busy or distracted, but thank you for always greeting me with kindness. I appreciate it, and you have been a terrific friend!
All Pipsters and Redheads: You guys, I never thought in a million years I’d be connected to so many wonderful people. You are all amazing! Never stop shining!
Pip and the Arnolds: I’ve been truly blessed to have you all in my life. Chris you remind me a lot of my mom. She is so sweet and kind to everyone and I thank you for being that way to the Pipsters. Pip, thank you! You have no idea how much your kindness and support means to me. I don’t see supporting you as a job. It’s a lifestyle because it’s such a positive experience. Bridge and Eileen, thank you gals for everything you’ve done. You are such wonderful ladies that words truly cannot describe.
To everyone… enjoy your vacation if you’re still on it! If you’re back at work or school I wish you the best. Thank you all… I always loved the summer, and this one was no exclusion. *raises champagne glass* Until next summer…
