Now for a News Update with Steph Pham

This post serves more as a casual coffee conversational piece — to catch up if you will.

Well, for those of you wondering where I work, I’m a Video Production Assistant at Norman Public Schools. My main duties include helping my boss out when the students are preparing/filming their weekly shows. If a teacher requests any kind of video services, I’m also there to help as well.

I love my job! We have the annual Teacher of the Year banquet coming up so my plate’s going to be full pretty quick.

There has been something I wanted to write about for the past week or so. These past few weeks, I’m not going to lie have been pretty crummy. It’s not that my job isn’t fulfilling or my family/friends have been rotten. If I had to give an analogy, it’d be like a emotional F3 tornado swept through and put A LOT of people I knew in bad moods.

I can brush off negative vibes. If it doesn’t really concern me, I shouldn’t stick my NOSY nose in it, right? But when more 3 people gang up on you, and it’s like mother nature gave every man and women in your life PMS… you start to get a little worried.

Big deal… everyone had a bad week. Let me tell you what made me snap.

Someone came up and told me specifically I couldn’t do something. You’re taught from an early age to tell those people, “SCREW YOU.” So, on top of the SASS STORM I received from everyone else, this person had the audacity to basically call me a “basic *****.” See, the reason this infuriates me, because even it is simple… NO ONE should be allowed to tell you YOU CAN’T do what is you want/like.

No matter if you believe in a creator or not, you were born with your own interests, hobbies and talents. If you like something and if you’re good at it, you have to continue sticking with it regardless what other people say.

“No one can make you inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. We get this spiel from time to time, but just in case you don’t get it enough…. DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU NO!

Oh, and one more thing before I end this essay… if you see someone down, just find a simple way to brighten up their day. Even if it’s just listening. Some people might not want to talk, but knowing someone’s their for them at their lows as well as their highs helps.

On that note, have a great week… and remember YOU ARE AWESOME!

“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” – RuPaul
